Is it hard to Canoe Village Creek?

No. It's fairly easy at most water levels and usually is a good place for beginners to learn. At higher levels, Village Creek can be an exciting Adventure for even the most avid paddler. Spring and Summer seasons are the most popular with families or groups looking for easy float trips. More Experienced paddlers will enjoy off season day trips or canoeing adventures on the Neches River.

Are there any Alligators?

No. Village Creek has a steady current and does not invite Alligators or Mosquitoes. While Alligators do exist in the Big Thicket, they are rarely ever seen on any of our canoe trails. Other wildlife is abundant and what you are most likely to see are Turtles, Birds and Butterflies.

How far in advance do you have to reserve your trip?

During the Peak Season from April thru October, Weekends are usually busy. Depending on the number of people in your party, the best rule is the larger the group, the more advance planning you will need. However, many people do not plan in advance at all, and can still get a canoe just by calling EASTEX CANOES office and letting us know what time to expect you.
